Eco Fashion Trend | Exclusive Interview: Right as Rain | Trendspotting

Eco Fashion Trend: Right as Rain

The Scottish-Italian fashion duo Right As Rain is ‘growing’ beautiful shirts entirely designed by nature. The shirts are made of unbleached silk from northern Italy, produced locally and then planted into the

ground. After the necessary time to mature and ripen, the shirts are harvested, each bearing a unique design. We were enticed by their rather unconventional approach to eco fashion and interviewed one of the founders, Sebastian Runde.

Trendspotting: Who or what inspires you?

Sebastian Runde: Nature itself. The change of the seasons, the weather, my animals. I live very close to nature, depend on it completely and it is my biggest inspiration.

Trendspotting: What is the greatest invention of all times and why?

Sebastian Runde: Hot showers. If you live in a house that provides that luxury only with bright sunshine, you know why.

Trendspotting: What invention would have been better off if it hadn't been invented?

Sebastian Runde: Interest on money and debts.

Trendspotting: What are the three things you don't leave the house without?

Sebastian Runde: trousers, shirt, shoes (sometimes)

Trendspotting: What was the last concert you saw?

Sebastian Runde: OrnellaTiberi, a local singer with a fantastic voice.

Trendspotting: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Sebastian Runde: The ability to inspire people.

Trendspotting: What's your favourite style of food?

Sebastian Runde: Home-cooking with wild plants. Even though I produce a lot of what I eat myself, springtime with all its wild veg in abundance is a great feast.

Trendspotting: If you could have dinner with any famous person, who would it be?

Sebastian Runde: Terry Prattchet

Trendspotting: What would you imagine the world to look like in 15 years from today?

Sebastian Runde: When I look back how the information technology has evolved in the last 15 years, how we are used to it already and

how small the world has become, I‘m rather curious to see what‘s next. Perhaps, due to this new „small“ world we might feel more like a global community than different nations and

will work together for a more sustainable lifestyle.

Trendspotting: If you could chose any place to live in the world where would you want to live?

Sebastian Runde: Definitely here on the farm, I‘ve found my place.

Trendspotting: Is there anything else you want to share with the world?

Sebastian Runde: I would wish for more people to become responsible consumers, not waste producers.
