Emma Hack | Artist | Lifestyle Spot On

Lifestyle

Emma Hack is not your average artist. For one thing, she started off her successful career working as a children’s face painter and is now winning awards for her work on the most important canvas – the body. As well as being a hair and make-up artist throughout most of her career, Emma is constantly expanding her horizons. One glance at her unforgettable images is bound to leave you with a lasting impression. Hack paints the models to blend in with astounding wallpaper so the models literally disappear. Having won multiple awards for her work, including most recently the Renault New Generation Art Award, the only place left for Emma to go now is up – and with such floating, picturesque pieces of work, how can she go anywhere else?

Trendspotting: Who or what inspires you?
Emma Hack: My inspiration is nature, I love different countries and other cultures, the way landscapes change from place to place and I love the sky. I am a big animal lover as well. As I originally started my career as a fashion based hair and make-up artist, I love fashion and textures in fabric prints.

Trendspotting:  What is the greatest invention of all times and why?
Emma Hack: Wow, that’s a hard one! I would say cameras, being able to record any moment in time, very nostalgic!

Trendspotting: What invention would have been better off if it hadn’t been invented?
Emma Hack: Bombs and

anything that pollutes our world.

Trendspotting: What are the three things you don’t leave the house without?
Emma Hack: My phone, a camera and

diary!

Trendspotting: What was the last concert you saw?
Emma Hack: I went to the Future Music Festival, I love a day party! Next week I plan to see Sia Furler, an Adelaide girl made good. Her music is so poetic and

she has an amazing voice!

Trendspotting: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Emma Hack: To fly.

Trendspotting: What’s your favourite style of food?
Emma Hack: I love everything but my favourite way to dine would be in a tapas style with a variety of tastes and great wine.

Trendspotting: If you could have dinner with any famous person, who would it be?
Emma Hack: Dali if this includes the dead! Otherwise John Paul Gautier, he looks like a load of fun and so inspirational.

Trendspotting: What would you imagine the world to look like in 15 years from today?
Emma Hack: Hopefully we will wake up to ourselves and it will be cleaner but I think pollution will be a large problem and we will be wondering why we didn’t make an effort earlier. Technology will be very impressive though I am sure!

Trendspotting: If you could chose any place to live in the world where would you want to live?
Emma Hack: I am very happy here in Adelaide, but my next place to live would be Spain, somewhere on the coast.

Trendspotting: Is there anything else you want to share with the world?
Emma Hack: Please feel free to check out my website www.emmahackartist.com and email me to join my update list. I welcome applications to tour my work in galleries internationally.

  • I\'m a painter and I went to one of Emma\'s exhibitions back in 2007 in The Arthouse, Sydney, and it was so awe inspiring.
