Stannard's Stunning Sculptures

Claire Suzy Stannard is a woman with a mission. To bring her deserving collection of artwork to the public’s attention. Claire has made sure that her unique work leaves a profound impression on the spectator’s minds by exploring the ideas of balance and symmetry within the forms of abstract geometric art. Claire’s art, created using a variety of materials such as wood and Perspex, is on display as of September 19, 2008 at the Gallery Adagio in Glebe. Trendspotting sat down with Claire to discover the person behind such fascinating and scintillating designs.
Trendspotting: Who or what inspires you?
Claire Suzy Stannard: Early life: Craft basket Wednesdays on Play School. These days: modernist architecture, Barbarella, natures innate mathematical structures.
Trendspotting: What is the greatest invention of all times and why?
Claire Suzy Stannard: Any device that records music & allows you to play it whenever over & over again, & penicillin of course.
Trendspotting: What invention would have been better off if it hadn’t been invented?
Claire Suzy Stannard: The leaf blower….bring back the broom of my childhood.
Trendspotting: What are the three things you don’t leave the house without?
Claire Suzy Stannard: I’d like to say my iphone, my blackberry & a can of mace but the truth is a spring in my step, one of those ugly green recycling bags, eyeliner.
Trendspotting: What was the last concert you saw?
Claire Suzy Stannard: A friends band at the bald face stag.
Trendspotting: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Claire Suzy Stannard: I think normality is highly under-rated, plus I’d be tempted to use it for evil not good.
Trendspotting: What’s your favourite style of food?
Claire Suzy Stannard: Easy peasy japanesy.
Trendspotting: If you could have dinner with any famous person, who would it be?
Claire Suzy Stannard: Oscar Wilde ( & hopefully he wouldn’t turn his biting sarcasm on my during the course of the evening) but as he’s dead Simon Pegg.
Trendspotting: What would you imagine the world to look like in 15 years from today?
Claire Suzy Stannard: A lot more crowded, a lot more greyness.
Trendspotting: If you could choose any place to live in the world where would you want to live?
Claire Suzy Stannard: Bush, coast, mountain or valley.. as long as there’s serenity (fleeing from answer no 9).
Trendspotting: Is there anything else you want to share with the world?
Claire Suzy Stannard: Be nice to your mum even though she may drive you nuts at times.

- Haha I like how Trendspotting asks such weird questions. eg. \"If you could eat dinner with a famous person, who would it be?\"
